Hello,

In celebration of braille literacy, we invite you to join us for the 10th Annual Braille Games on Friday, March 16, 2012.  The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (with registration/check-in at 9:00 a.m.) at Gaenslen School, 1250 East Burleigh, Milwaukee.  Registration information is attached.

Vision Forward Association (formerly the Badger Association) is excited to collaborate with Audio & Braille Literacy Enhancement (ABLE) and the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library, in cooperation with the Milwaukee and suburban school districts, to host this intergenerational competition that joins experienced, braille-literate adults with children from the greater Milwaukee area who are learning Braille.  The Braille Games strengthen children's skills through creative, recreational competition.

I am getting a head start on summer plans! I have updated the list that I put together of Wisconsin's children and youth summer camps for 2012. We will be sharing this list with families and other schools to help them with their summer planning. I have attached the list to this email. The camps that I have listed benefit and are open to children and youth with disabilities. All camps vary in cost and requirements. I will continue to update the list when new camps are announced.

Are you legally blind and will you be a full-time college student attending the fall 2012 semester in the United States or Puerto Rico? The National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program Application Form is online at www.nfb.org/scholarships along with all rules for eligibility, the complete list of requirements for a completed packet, and additional information. (A print application form is available upon request.)
 
Our Scholarships:
? 1 for $12,000
? 1 for $10,000
? 2 for $7,000 each
? 4 for $5,000 each
22 for $3,000 each
plus additional gifts to each winner
 
The deadline to submit the application form and all required support documents is three months away?March 31, 2012?so there is still plenty of time, especially if you have the other required documents ready to upload from your computer to the online application form.? 
 
We prefer DOC, DOCX, and RTF file formats, though we accept PDF. We prefer PDF for school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores.? We also accept documents via mail or as attachments to an email.

2012 Summer Programs

EmployAbility:  July 5- August 10
A program for students ages 16-21 that provides instruction in job readiness skills and four weeks of paid part-time employment in the community.

Olympian Summer Program:  July 8-20
An Olympic themed program focusing on the history and ideals of the Olympics, as well as the Paralympics and adapting sports for the blind and visually impaired.  Have fun while learning about the Olympics!

The Future is Yours, Preparing Adults for Career and College:  July 22-27
This program is designed to prepare high school graduates and non-traditional students who are blind or visually impaired for success in post-secondary education.

Hello all,

Attached you'll find the working draft of our parent seminar flyer.  Instead of making it a "save the date" type of document, and in light of the fact that we may have to wait a bit to get online registration up and running, I made it into an actual registration document (minus Andrea's address - I know I have it somewhere, but please send it over, Andrea! Smile).

You will notice that the childcare registration is set at $7 per child, per our discussion last week. I don't remember if we decided on a number for the late/at the door price for children, so I added five dollars and put it down as $12.  Someone please refresh my memory if it should be something else.

Also, the "early" registration deadline is now one week before convention, April 6, per John.

Please take a moment to look it over and send me any feedback you may have.  We will also have time to discuss it tonight, but anything you notice now would be great - the earlier the better.

Looks good to me. I like the idea of making it a registration form, then they can do it right away. One other thing to add would be Andrea's phone number and the option to register by phone and also her e-mail with that option. Talk to you tonight.
